Atascocita Trails is part of the Atascocita - Lake Houston Area Security Agreement, which is a collection of 9 communities who have pooled their resources in order to enter into a contract with Harris Co. Precinct #4 to provide a more pervasive level of law enforcement via additional Prct. 4 constables.  With this contract, Harris Co. is obligated to provide an additional 9 deputies and 1 patrolling sergeant who will devote at least 70% of their time to the Security Agreement Area.  This type of 70/30 contract is common throughout the county, and allows the county to pull these additional officers out of the contract area in the case of any unforeseen emergency requiring uncommon law enforcement manpower in neighboring areas.

The rates paid by each community are according to the number of "rooftops" in that community.  The ratio of rooftops in a community to the total number of rooftops in the contract determines the rate paid.  In 2010, the calculated rate per rooftop is $5.57/mo.  In some areas, the homeowners have to pay an extra yearly "line-item fee" in addition to the normal maintenance fees to cover the expense of the security contract.  In Atascocita Trails, however, this rate is paid out of your annual maintenance fee.
